Kashan is an ancient civilized city about 300 kilometers south of Tehran. Hand-woven carpet weaving has a long history, dating back to the 16th century. The "Adbere Carpet" stored in the Victoria and Albert Gallery in London, England, was made here. Classic Cashan carpets are mostly designed with a diamond-shaped central sunflower pattern, and the colors are traditional red and blue.

Some modern Cashan carpets also use light brown, gray blue and palm green. A unique design style of Kashan carpet is the use of figure painting and historical event painting. The paintings usually focus on hunting and picnics. Exquisite realistic flowers, birds, fish and insects are also a major feature of Kashan carpets
